Many gentlemen will agree that garden parties, on the whole, can be pretty tiresome affairs.
All that sitting around and making polite conversation with the womenfolk, without the benefit of a bloody stiff drink or a bloody large cigar is many chaps idea of hell. But armed with a bottle of Bourbon, a bottle of Bitters, and an Orange the General set up an operations base and soon stirred his annual family summer gathering into action.
Mixing several large Old Fashioneds for his Father’s guests was a bold measure, but one that rewarded him with an enjoyable, hazy afternoon of mixing many refills. Naturally, the General being a gentleman decided it would have been rude of him to let them all drink alone.
